History of Dumbleyung Primary School

The school, opened in 1911, has a warm and welcoming community whose enthusiasm can be felt throughout all school activities and functions.

Student numbers reached over 210 in the early 1960s and in 1968 the school became a District High School. The school was reclassified to a Level 3 Primary School for the start of the 2000 school year.

In 2011, the Dumbleyung Primary School celebrated its 100 years, which had high significance to the community and its members.

Dumbleyung is historically known for its grain and livestock production and more largely recognised by the lake.

Lake Dumbleyung received world recognition when Donald Campbell broke the world water speed record on 31 December 1964.
